Driver killed after crashing into tree

IRVINE – The driver of a dark-colored sedan was killed after crashing into a tree early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at 1:30 a.m. at the Jeffrey Road off-ramp on the northbound I-5, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided into a tree, which caused the fatal injuries, the dispatcher said.

Further details of the crash were not immediately available.
